We couldn’t do this work without our sponsors and donors
Thank you to all those people and companies who have gone the extra mile to help us. Whether it be services in-kind or monetary donations, we appreciate each and everyone of them. This is how we change rape culture and take a stand against sexual violence.

We work hand in hand with students at the University of Michigan to put on events that bring community and campus together including the annual Take Back the Night Ann Arbor rally and march which is in its 49th year. We also hold movie screenings, yoga sessions, book signings, informational sessions and more.
“The community I found through STARS in Ann Arbor helped me tremendously as I navigated the aftermath of being sexually assaulted in college. I joined during my junior year, searching for some sense of relief and, perhaps most importantly, a community of people who understood what I had experienced. That is exactly what I found. STARS helped me rebuild my sense of self, find strength in my experience, and ultimately empowered me to use my voice to advocate against gender-based and sexual violence.” -Caitlin Marcus, Education Professional
In addition to hosting these events throughout the year, we provide a family of support for our volunteers and students on campus. Many of our volunteers have been touched directly or indirectly by this trauma and finding a safe group of support and mentorship can make a difference as they continue to cope with their experience. We have seen both volunteers and attendees be able to begin to heal from their trauma, from speaking about it to their families to starting therapy to beginning careers in this space. “After being sexually assaulted during Welcome Week my sophomore year, I sought out an organization to join to spread awareness about sexual violence. TBTN Ann Arbor and STARS have been monumental in my journey and have helped me speak out about my own experience.” – Lauren Kuhn-Viscardi, Esq., Senior Court Attorney in New York.
“It had been years since my assault when I first started volunteering with TBTN, but my recovery was still in its infancy. This group gave me a home base to yes, share my experiences and hear others’ stories, an invaluable resource for a survivor. But it also gave me a vein I could tap into with other survivors where our rage, grief, horror, and sorrow could unite, becoming something else entirely that was very, very strong. Being able to use that fusion to create real change helped me to change as well, and I shifted from someone full of fear and pain to someone empowered and in charge of my own life.” – Quinn Davis, Mental Health Therapist
This work is challenging and taking it on needs bravery and confidence. As a community organization, we guide the students as they learn how to host these impactful events and teach them life long skills like project management, marketing, social media management, fundraising, public speaking and more. “As a volunteer with TBTN Ann Arbor/STARS, I learned how to gather community resources, create safe spaces for survivors, and find my own voice to speak up against injustice.” – Sabrina Angel, community leader in nonprofit spaces.
Why Partner with Us:

They also give allies space to stand with survivors. Above all else they uplift and empower survivors. - Aligned Values:
We know, like us, you care about the health and spirits of those in your area. This will show how serious you are about helping the community around you. - Marketing Exposure:
As a sponsor, you will receive benefits like logo placement on event materials, social media mentions, website recognition, exposure at our Gala, and more. Not only do we have hundreds of in-person attendees, we livestream TBTN on YouTube and we have hundreds of followers on social media from across the country.
“For almost 10 years, I have been honored to serve as the MC for the STARS Take Back the Night event and witness the remarkable work of our nonprofit leaders, students, elected officials and the transformation of survivors, including myself. It has been a blessing to connect with other survivors and encourage people to share stories they may have never told before. Sexual violence on college campuses is a nationwide issue, and I am grateful students have a community where they can find safety, resources, celebration and support in their survivorship.” – Nicole Denson, Advocate/Activist
